Back to 2002 and now full circle

The work in progress half and the dilapidated half

In 2002, while I was rather ill in bed, my husband bought an 'alternative' in rural France (about two thirds of the way down France on the left  to be a little more precise). It was bought before i saw it.  At that time, hearts were heavy, stress levels were high (I may not have been able to continue to to work), accommodation was basic and cramped, money was tight and progress slow but the hydrangeas, the weather, the peace and the grapevine spurred us onwards.

Happily I recovered and the 'alternative' became the 'project'. I worked (far too much) and little by little, penny by penny, progress was made. In snatched vacations we fell in love with the 500 year old, metre thick walls, the sounds, tastes and the potential.

Time has moved on and bit by bit renovations and reparations were completed. I have continued to work (far too much), stress levels are again high and the 'project' is again an 'alternative'.

My husband leaves the latest of our transient ex-pat homes this month (with 2 dogs and 2 cats) to move into the 'alternative' and finish off the odds and ends. I will traipse from hotel to hotel for as long as I can bear (methinks not long); my few essential possessions in my suitcase and a large plastic box in the office of the Superbrand (see profile)!
